Hiking Trails

In Western Uganda

In June 2016 a new hiking trail, Tooro Kokasemera, was launched! Beginning at Amabere Caves, the 17km trail winds around crater lakes and dry calderas, finishing at a crystal-clear swimming lake. Day hike from Fort Portal.

Hot Springs in
Semuliki National Park

While in Semuliki National Park, visit the famous hot springs, which bubble up from the depths and demonstrate the powerful subterranean forces that have been shaping the rift valley during the last 14 million years.

  • Primate tracking (with the possibility of sighting chimpanzees, blue monkeys, elephants and buffaloes), followed by an afternoon wetland sanctuary walk for bird and primate sightings

  • Visit to Queen Elizabeth National Park to see lions, leopards, hyenas, elephants, a variety of bird species. Afternoon boat ride at Kazinga Channel to see hippos, crocodiles, and other aquatic life

  • Tour to the Rift Valley for fantastic views, hot springs, and a walk through a forest rich in wildlife (birds, elephants, buffalus, statunga, and primates)

  • Hiking in the Rwenzori (1800-2000m) to Semlukiki National Park to view the Semuliki River, Lake Albert, and the Albertine region
